Battlefield 6 voice chat not working in squad — teammates can't hear me

Since the latest patch I can’t get voice chat working in Battlefield 6 squad play. My teammates can’t hear me at all, but I can hear them fine. The mic icon doesn’t light up when I talk.

What I’ve already tried:

• Mic is set as default device in Windows sound settings, works fine in Discord

• Voice chat is enabled in BF6 audio settings, input mode set to push-to-talk

• Verified game files through EA App

• Ran the game as administrator

Windows 11, EA App version (not Steam). Headset is a HyperX Cloud II connected via USB. Is this a known issue with the EA App overlay or is there some Windows privacy setting that blocks the game specifically?

Yeah the "mic icon never lights up" part is the tell — game's not even picking up your input, so it's got nothing to do with the EA overlay or netcode. Your gear's fine since Discord works. You already covered the obvious stuff, so here's what's actually left:

Check your Windows app permissions, not just the default device. Setting it as default mic isn't the same thing. Hit Settings → Privacy & security → Microphone and make sure "Let desktop apps access your microphone" is toggled on. BF6 through the EA App counts as a desktop app and a Win11 update flipping this off is like THE classic reason for "works in Discord but game gets nothing." Discord has its own permission so it dodges this.

Ditch push-to-talk for a sec and try Open Mic. There's a known BF6 bug where PTT just... doesn't register for some people while Open Mic works totally fine. Flip to voice-activated in the audio settings:

  • Icon lights up now? Congrats, you hit the PTT bug. Rebind PTT to a different key (default bind conflicts for a bunch of people) or just ride Open Mic till they patch it.

  • Still dead? Then it's the device/permission thing above, not this.

Force the input device in-game. Your Cloud II's USB dongle shows up as its own device and BF6 loves defaulting to something random (mobo input, webcam mic, whatever) after a patch wipes settings. Options → Audio → Voice Chat → set Voice Chat Input Device straight to the HyperX, don't leave it on Default.

Make sure you're actually in Squad chat. If you queued with a buddy, the game dumps you in Party voice by default, not Squad — so your squad literally can't hear you because you're not in their channel. Swap it in the voice settings. And yeah, it resets sometimes so check it each match.

My money's on the desktop-app permission or the PTT bug — those two match your symptoms dead-on. Lemme know which one did it 👍
