Battlefield 2042 is a multiplayer first-person shooter set during a near-future global crisis. Large maps support infantry, tanks, aircraft, transport vehicles, dynamic weather, and changing combat zones. Specialists provide unique gadgets and traits, while weapon and vehicle choices can be adjusted around a squad's needs. Alongside its main large-scale modes, Battlefield Portal allows custom rule sets using content inspired by several older Battlefield games. Post-launch updates revised classes, maps, balance, progression, and interface systems while adding seasonal weapons and locations.
