How do I troubleshoot random session drops in Path of Exile 2?

Sessions in Path of Exile 2 drop or fail to connect, but the connection passes a basic speed test.

How should this be tested properly? I’m looking for a short order that checks packet loss, firewall rules, background traffic, and Vulkan or DirectX 12, shader cache, lockstep networking, and effect-heavy fights.

Use a short network isolation test:

1. Try Ethernet and pause all uploads.
2. Confirm the game, launcher, anti-cheat, and platform services are allowed through the firewall.
3. Check region selection and avoid VPNs for the baseline.
4. Restart the router and PC once, then test without changing five settings together.
5. Run continuous ping tests to the router and internet during a disconnect.
6. Compare solo, public matchmaking, and friend-hosted sessions.
