Doing the Self-Same Trial (second door, "Her Most Hallowed Mercy") in the Gauntlet of Shar and I keep botching it in a way the guides don't really address. I know the basics — interact with the Sacrificial Bowl, fight clones of my party, grab the Umbral Gem off the last one. The clones themselves aren't the problem. The problem is Cheater's Folly.
Every time one of my characters attacks a clone that isn't their own mirror, they eat a Cheater's Folly stack — -1 to all abilities, stacks up to 4x until long rest. So by the third clone my whole party is running -2/-3 across the board and it's a death spiral. But here's the catch: I can't just have everyone fight their own exact copy, because the clones don't play by that rule — my clone Karlach and clone fighter happily gang up on my real squishy casters, and if I don't peel them off, my casters get deleted. So I'm forced to cross-attack, which triggers the curse, which tanks my stats, which loses the fight.
I've tried:
Splitting the party and stealth-opening with a backstab — works on ONE clone but the moment real combat starts the rest still cross-target
Focusing my own clone first — but then the other three clones wipe whoever's left
Just tanking the Folly stacks and brute-forcing — party's too weak by the end
I also can't shove/throw them off ledges because of that Amorphous passive. Is there a legit way to clear all clones without eating a pile of Cheater's Folly, or is the intended solution some kind of setup I'm missing before I ever touch the bowl? Playing honour mode-ish rules so I'd rather not just eat a wrecked party into the next trial.
