Is the Bhaalspawn player-character from Baldur's Gate II canonically alive during the events of Baldur's Gate 3?

At the end of Baldur's Gate II: Throne of Bhaal, the player-character (a Bhaalspawn) gets a choice: ascend as the new Lord of Murder, or reject the divine essence and live out the rest of their life as a mortal.

However, Baldur's Gate 3 takes place ~120 years later and there's basically zero direct mention of the ToB protagonist. Indeed:

  • Bhaal is fully back as one of the Dead Three, with the whole Dark Urge origin being a fresh Bhaalspawn rather than a callback to the old one

  • Sarevok Anchev shows up in the Murder Tribunal but never actually clears up what happened to the original Bhaalspawn who beat him

Is there any canon reference (in-game dialogue, a book, a letter, dev commentary) that confirms whether the BG2 protagonist is still alive, or at least what canonically happened to them?
